42 Commando Rank Structure |

Recruit Recruits are members who have yet to pass basic training and earn their uniform.

Private A Private is the lowest full member rank and is given upon completing basic training

Lance Corporal
Lance Corporal is the lowest NCO rank and is tasked with emparting wisdom and guidance to newer members.They are ocaisanly given leadership roles though these are often done under the guidance of a more senior NCO or Officer.

Corporal
Corporals have established themselves as being mature and able soldiers and are now given more authority such as being 2IC of a Squad.

Sergeant
A Sergeant is a proven member and can lead a squad.With a high amount of leadership and maturity a Sergeant has shown dedication to get this far. As a Sergeant they are given more responsebility for those below them.

Staff Sergeant
A Staff Sergeant is a dedicated hardworking leader and is given the role of ensuring that things get done in there platoon. As the Platoon Level NCO it is the Staff Sergeants job to aid the Platoon Commander and in his abscence take command if neccesary. |
Warrant Officer Class 2
The Warrant officer is the Company level NCO.They are among the most respected members in the battalion and there guidance is much sort after and enlisted and officers do well to take heed. |
Warrant Officer Class 1
There is only ever one Warrant Officer Class 1 and they serve as the Battalion NCO.They have risen through the ranks and have held many positions of command ranging all the way from L-Cpl to WO2 and have gained a lot of experience on there way which. They as the head of the NCO Corps hold a seat on the Command Staff and are a Wealth of knowledge. |
Second Lieutenant
Just as the Lance Corporal is the junior NCO the Second Lieutenant is the junior Officer they are in command of a platoon and have a Staff Sergeant as Second In Command and will often look to him for guidance |
Lieutenant
The Lieutenant has proven him/herself as a competent Platoon Commander and now serves a double role both IC of a Platoon and also 2IC of the Company

Captain
To be promoted to Captain is to be the standard of excellence as an officer.This rank is held by Company Commanders with a WO2 as there NCO. Battalion staff Officers hold the rank of Captain.As a Captain they are given a seat on the Command Staff |
Major
The Major is an Officer who is proven at all levels and can now be given responsabilities that span the entire Battalion. The Major serves as second in command. All eyes are on the Major, for he assists the leadership of the Battalion in all areas. |
Lieutenant-ColonelThe Colonel has one job only: to Command the Regiment. His is the final word on all things. His responsibility is all encompassing and all consuming. In short, he signs the checks.
